Iwrestledabearonce (abbreviated IWABO ) is a mathcore band from Shreveport , Louisiana , founded in 2007 and signed to the German label Century Media . Their music is a mixture of jazz , swing , electronic and deathcore . So far the band has released an EP and three albums .

The band's name comes from a comment by American actor Gary Busey , who claimed during a broadcast on Comedy Central that he had wrestled with a bear once.

history

Iwrestledabearonce was founded in 2007 with the desire to just make music together. After a singer was found in Krysta Cameron and the band stood on two legs after some changes of the band members, they began with their first recordings on the home computer of the guitarist Steven Bradley. Shortly thereafter, their first self-titled EP was released on Tragic Hero Records . They also played the first self-organized concerts together.

The band shared their music with their fans via the Internet, arousing the interest of the German record label Century Media . Her debut album, It's All Happening , was released on July 2, 2009 in the USA . The publication in Europe followed just under two months later . It sold 4,300 copies in the first week of its release and reached # 122 on the Billboard Top 200 Charts, # 1 in the Heatseekers, # 47 in Best Rock Albums and # 16 in Best Hard Rock Albums. In October and November 2009 they performed together with Architects , Despised Icon , As Blood Runs Black , Horse the Band , Oceano and The Ghost Inside at the Impericon Never Say Die! Tour which took place in the UK and Europe. In addition, the band toured with Winds of Plague , The Human Abstract , Greeley Estates , Sea of Treachery and See You Next Tuesday .

In 2010 It's All Happening was re-released as a special edition with a regular album, remix album and DVD. In addition, the freely accessible EP It's All Dubstep was released. The next full-length album Ruining It For Everybody was released on July 26th, 2011 . In the run-up to the recordings for the new album, guitarist Steven Bradley announced that the band would do black metal in the future, which was underlined by the band's appearances in Corpsepaint . Black Metal history turned out to be a big joke with the release of the first new song, which the band had come up with together with the website MetalSucks to parody the Black Metal fans who take themselves far too seriously.

The band produced in 2011, directed by Justin Beasley the Independent - Horror A Beary Scary Movie, in which she played herself.
