Tragic Hero was founded in 2005 in Raleigh , North Carolina by Tommy Lacombe, David Varnedoe and Jason Ganthner to represent the regional hardcore punk scene .

The first band to be signed to the label was Alesana . Also, A Skylit Drive and Iwrestledabearonce released their first CD in Tragic Hero. Alesana and He Is Legend , who were under contract with the label, published their most famous works there. He Is Legend later moved to Fearless Records . The label signs bands that play alternative rock , metalcore , emocore , screamo , post-hardcore and pop-punk . Various progressive rock and prog metal bands , as well as electronica groups, were also under contract with Tragic Hero.

Other well-known groups that were or are already under contract with Tragic Hero are Crossfaith , Letlive , We Are Defiance , This Romantic Tragedy , Confide , Eyes Like Diamonds , Motionless in White , Erra , Greeley Estates and Finch . Some of these bands made the next step through the label and switched to larger record companies. Some groups signed a record deal with Fearless Records, Epitaph Records and Sumerian Records . Other bands made it into the national charts with Tragic Hero Records. With The Dead Rabbitts , a supergroup is also under contract with Tragic Hero Records.
