Everyone Dies in Utah is a post-hardcore band from Temple , Texas , formed in 2008 .
history
Foundation and time at Tragic Hero Records
Everyone Dies in Utah was founded in Temple in the US state of Texas in 2008 and, after several changes in the cast, consists of singer Danny Martinez, guitarists Cameron Easter and Brandon Allen, bassist Daniel Tharp, keyboardist Trey Golden and drummer Nathan Chase-Meadows. Former musicians are drummer Justin Morgan, guitarist Taylor Bagley, and the two singers Justin Yost and Michael Crimlis. The latter previously played for Us, From Outside . The group's first concert took place as part of a Battle of the Bands competition, although the musicians had not yet found a name for their band at the time.
One year after it was founded, I Hope You Know This Means War was released, an EP that was produced in-house. In mid-2010 the group was signed by Tragic Hero Records . In February of the following year, the release of the debut album Seeing Clearly followed . This was immediately followed by a concert tour along the west coast of the United States , which was accompanied by Eyes Like Diamonds . In July 2012 the release of the second album + // - Polarities followed . Between September 7 and 22, 2012, the group completed a concert tour through several US states with A Bullet for Pretty Boy , before another tour with Affiance followed in November of the same year .
In the summer of 2013 the band was part of the Scream the Prayer Tour , which has been held annually since 2008 , on which Impending Doom acted as headliner and was accompanied by Silent Planet , Fit for a King , Gideon , Wolves at the Gate and The Great Commission . In November of the same year, Neutral Ground was released , the third album on Tragic Hero by Jim Wert , who already worked with Incubus and A Skylit Drive . Between May 8 and June 14, 2014, the group completed another concert tour through the United States, accompanied by Kingdom of Giants and InDirections .
Signature at InVogue Records
After the band separated from their previous label in 2014 and released the single Exodus in the same year , the musicians were signed by inVogue Records in December 2015 . In April and May 2015, the band toured the United States with Lions Lions . At the beginning of October 2016, the album named after the band was their first work on inVogue Records and the fourth of their career overall. Immediately after the album was released, the band toured several states in the United States together with Conspire , Glass Houses and Convictions between October 10 and 22.
On the occasion of Mental Health Awareness Month , which takes place in May , the band released a new single with X in May 2018, which was inspired by the fiancée of the singer Danny Martinez.
music
Everyone Dies in Utah's music is rooted in post-hardcore . However, the rather dark ballad Simple Me // 2 reminds of the earlier works of the Canadian hardcore band Grade , while the breakdowns used by the band in various pieces of the group remind of Meshuggah . The band mixes elements of Screamo with Metalcore . By using stylistic elements of ambient and atmospheric rock music , similarities to bands like Crown the Empire and The Word Alive can be recognized.
Band name
At the beginning of their career, the musicians were supposed to play their first concert as part of a Battle of the Bands competition. At that point, the musicians who were still in high school at the time didn't have a name for their group to give to the promoter. A textbook said that Utah had the highest mortality rate in the United States. This served the musicians as inspiration for their band name.
