Impending Doom ( "impending doom ") is an American metal band from Riverside , California . Their style changed from Goregrind to Death Metal to Deathcore .
Band history
Impending Doom was founded in 2005 by singer Brook Reeves, guitarists Manny Contreras and Chris Forno, a bassist named Jon and drummer Isaac Bueno. After they released the EP The Sin And Doom Of Godless Men that same year , Greg Pewthers joined the band as the third guitarist. Bassist Jon was later replaced by David Sittig and Andy Hegg joined Isaac Bueno (drums).
With this line-up, Impending Doom eventually recorded their debut album Nailed. Dead. Risen. on. It was released in September 2007 via Facedown Records and reached number 46 on the Billboard's weekly Top Heatseekers chart. In the fall of 2007, Impending Doom u. a. with Winds of Plague on support tour for their debut album. Chris Forno left Impending Doom in 2007; since then only two guitarists have played in the band.
For the second studio album The Serpent Servant , Impending Doom worked with As I Lay Dying singer Tim Lambesis. It was released on March 31, 2009 via Facedown Records; it reached number 144 on the Billboard Top 200 and number 3 on the Billboard Top Heatseekers' weekly chart. 4,300 copies were sold in the first week.
Just a few weeks after the release of the second studio album, Impending Doom announced that they were already working on its successor. There Will Be Violence was finally released on July 20, 2010.
Music genre
Impending Doom play Deathcore with Grindcore influences. Brook Reeves' singing is entirely guttural; often there are blastbeats of the drums.
Christian faith
Impending Doom are followers of the Christian faith. The album title of the first album Nailed. Dead. Risen (in German: Nailed. Dead. Resurrected. ) Is about the crucifixion of Jesus and the surrounding events of his death.
The title of the song More Than Conquerors from the album (The Serpant Servant) is a reference to the Bible verse “No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.” (German translation: But in this we overcome far for the sake of who loved us. )
