Winds of Plague is an American deathcore band from Upland , California that was formed in 2002.

history

Until April 2005 the band was still called Bleak December , but then, inspired by the song Endless by Unearth, changed its name to Winds of Plague . Two months later, the debut album A Cold Day in Hell was released on Recorse Records. The lyrics on the album are about life and brotherhood . In February 2008, the second studio album Decimate the Weak was released under Century Media . The album appeared on the Internet on December 20, 2007. The video for the song The Impaler was banned by MTV due to its content and language.

Afterwards Winds of Plague were on tour with different bands such as Dimmu Borgir , As Blood Runs Black , Impending Doom , Veil of Maya and Danzig . On August 11, 2009, the third studio album The Great Stone War was released via Century Media. Martin Stewart ( Terror ) and Mitch Lucker ( Suicide Silence ) can be heard in the songs Forged in Fire and Classic Struggle . The band then went on tour with Stick to Your Guns and For Today , where they will also appear in Germany , among other places .

style

The musical style of Winds of Plague is assigned to the symphonic deathcore , which is reflected in their sound image especially through the use of synthesizers for musical background, which is generally unusual in the genre. Especially on the second album Decimate the Weak you can hear more black metal influences.
