Alyson Books , formerly known as Alyson Publications , is an American book publisher . The publisher specializes in books dealing with LGBT subjects. The publishing house was founded in 1980 by Sasha Alyson in Boston . In 1995 the publishing house was taken over by Liberation Publications and in 2008 it was sold to Regent Entertainment Media . The editor was Don Weise .
