Music promotion

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Within the music industry , promotion refers to all public relations measures for musicians or their new album releases and / or tours . The executing clerks are referred to analogously as “promoters”, although in English-speaking countries “promoter” is used to describe the organizer of a concert or tour, for example.

aims

The aim of the promotion work is to place the product to be advertised in mass media such as radio , television and press , as well as in discos and clubs with appropriate music . This is done by the promotion departments of the record companies or specialized music promotion agencies.

Sampling

In the music industry, sampling is understood to mean the sending of music tracks for promotional purposes. To ensure that new music tracks reach the largest possible audience, record companies send thousands of records to radio stations, journalists, DJs and licensees. The recipients usually receive the music for free. With this sampling, record companies want to place their music titles on the radio, in the press and in discotheques and as a result increase music sales.

Online sampling

Online sampling has become firmly established due to the rapidly increasing use of broadband Internet access. Record companies provide their music titles as audio files and use the Internet as a sales channel. This type of sampling is faster and cheaper than traditional sampling. A “black list” is intended to list misleading and aggressive sampling practices that are prohibited. The protection should also apply for the period after the doctorate. So far it has only been about dissemination. If necessary, recipients can contact the German consumer advice centers or the European consumer center in Kiel.
