history
Foundation and EP
A Skylit Drive's original members met in Lodi during high school days. There Cory LaQuay (drummer) attended Franklin High in Elk Grove, California (together with Matt Mingus, the drummer of Dance Gavin Dance). Her debut EP "She Watched The Sky" was released on January 23, 2007 by the Tragic Hero Records label. A video of the song "Drown The City" by Brianna Campbell was shot. In the video, ASD are playing in a parking lot and in a club. The release of the EP was followed by a tour with the groups Four Letter Lie, Blessthefall , Scary Kids Scaring Kids, Greeley Estates , Oh Sleeper, The Blackout , Alesana , Before Their Eyes, Dance Gavin Dance, Kenotia, Pierce the Veil and From First to Last . In order to pursue other musical interests, and probably because of tensions within the band, Jordan Blake left the band in November 2007 (he now plays in the two-man project "Watchout! Theres Ghosts"). For the following tour, Blake was replaced by Jonny Craig (formerly with Dance Gavin Dance, now with Slaves).
First studio album
Michael "Jag" Jagmin, former singer of the band Odd Project, subsequently replaced Craig. The debut album Wires ... And the Concept of Breathing was released on May 20, 2008. The record made it to number 171 on the US Billboard 200, along with it in the Top Heatseekers charts and number 20 on the top independent albums. Shortly after the release of this album, the boys made a music video for the non-profit group "To Write Love On Her Arms" directed by Robby Starbuck. They performed at the 2008 Bamboozle Festival and toured with Sky Eats Airplane, Breathe Carolina and Emarosa that same summer year.
Another tour followed with Greeley Estates, August Burns Red , This or the Apocalypse , Escape the Fate, Alesana , Chiodos and Silverstein in the fall of 2008. They also made a live DVD entitled Let Go of the Wires , which was released on September 9th December 2008 was published.
In mid-November the band released a music video for the song Wires ... And The Concept Of Breathing . The video can be viewed on your Myspace profile. Her song, This Isn't the End, and video are about teenage suicides. It was shot again by Robby Starbuck, in collaboration with the non-profit group To Write Love on Her Arms . Both videos plus the videos for Knights of the Round , All It Takes for Your Dreams to Come True & I'm Not a Thief, I'm a Treasure Hunter are included on the Let Go Of The Wires DVD , which was released in 2008 see. There is also a live performance that was recorded in the Glasshouse in Pomona, California, on the DVD. On December 19, 2008, it was announced that A Skylit Drive would be part of the 2009 Vans Warped Tour. In spring 2009 the band played a US headlining tour with Dance Gavin Dance , Attack Attack! and In Fear and Faith .
Second studio album
It was announced on the DVD that ASD are planning a new studio album. The plate was originally supposed to be called Glaciers . However, the band later announced that this would not be the title, and that the album would have more soulful themes than the first. On January 31, 2009, the band published on their blog that the album title would remain unknown until "the time was right".
On January 8, 2009, the band announced that they had switched to Fearless Records and that the new album would be released in 2009.
On April 8, 2009, the band posted the track list, title and release date of the new album on their official Myspace blog. It is called "Adelphia" and was published on June 9, 2009.
Third studio album
On August 4, 2010, the band announced that they would begin recording a new album. After it was announced via MySpace on October 27th that the recordings were finished, Nick Miller published a picture on November 12th via Twitter or Twitpic, which shows some initial information about the band's third studio album. "Identity on Fire" was released in February 2011.
