August Burns Red is an American metalcore - band , which in 2003 Lancaster , Pennsylvania was founded.

Band name

The band was often asked for its name, especially when it came to be and whether there was any meaning behind it. The most popular story tells of a young woman named August, who was a high school friend of the singer and who is said to have set his dog Redd on fire after they split up. Only later did it emerge that this was just a joke by the band and that there is actually nothing behind their name. Drummer Matt Greiner said in an interview that he and his fellow musicians simply needed a band name and agreed on "August Burns Red".

style

The band is mainly known for their strong breakdowns and rhythmically complex riffs . She describes Between the Buried and Me , Misery Signals and Hopesfall as her main influences.
