history

View of the main stage at Summer Breeze 2016

The event took place in Abtsgmünd near Aalen until 2005 and moved to Dinkelsbühl, 40 km away, in 2006 . Every year around 120 bands appear on four stages over three days, the main stage has been rotatable since 2017 and replaces the former "Main Stage" and the "Pain Stage" by turning (one band plays while the next is setting up). This means there is less overlap and no longer waiting times. The second stage ( former party tent , since 2014 in memory of co-founder Michael "Mr. T." Trengert, who died in 2013, T-Stage ) is located near the entrance locks .

In 2010 the festival offered another stage for the first time, the so-called Camel Stage , which was placed next to the T-Stage. This stage was promoted by the cigarette brand Camel . In 2019 the promoter changed the stage for the first time, so that the stage previously known as Camel Stage will now be called " WERA TOOL REBEL STAGE". Since 2010 a Nuclear Blast Label Night has been organized on Wednesdays with bands such as B. Equilibrium , Rage (band) or Unleashed . The fourth stage is called "Ficken Party Stage" and is located in the middle of the campground.

The annual number of visitors has skyrocketed in the last few years, in 2011 the festival had 39,000 visitors. In order to be able to cope with the influx of visitors, the access options as well as the parking and camping areas were gradually increased. The stage system was also rearranged in order to enable the spectators to have shorter distances between the stages. The festival has had a beer garden since 2007. The merchandise shopping mile has also been expanded and is located on the stage area directly between the admission control and the two main stages, T-Stage and Main Stage.

There is also a free shuttle bus service to Dinkelsbühl and back, which runs regularly every ten minutes.

Camping is included in the ticket price from Wednesday, but the campsites traditionally open on Tuesday. For this, an extra fee has to be paid on site (10 €).

The camping site is provided with showers, flushed toilets, drinking water points, Dixi toilets , small supermarkets, food stalls and information boards and is patrolled continuously by the police, fire brigade, rescue services and security services.

In addition, there is a special area for visitors with disabilities / wheelchair users / sleep apnea patients, the Handicapped Camping. The area is equipped with platforms including handicapped accessible toilets for wheelchair users in front of the main stage. We try to make the festival as barrier-free as possible.

In 2010 the comedian Bülent Ceylan appeared as a surprise guest with a 20-minute show on the main stage.

Sister project

In the winter months, a festival called Winter Freeze , organized by the Summer Breeze organizers, took place, but it only lasted one day. The band selection was very similar to that of Summer Breeze. Well-known bands also appeared. The festival only existed in 2009, 2010 and 2011.
