The Reload Festival has been an open-air rock festival in Lower Saxony every year since 2006 in the summer months on two days, between 2009 and 2013 on three days , which was initially held in Twistringen (like a previous indoor event that was held in 2003) , and then in Sulingen since 2011 . Billy Idol (2010), Limp Bizkit , Hatebreed and Papa Roach (2011) have been named as leading participants in recent years .
History & Terrain
The Reload Festival started for the first time in 2003 as an indoor event in Twistringen. For 2006 it was decided to move the festival outside and selected the area of the "old brickworks". The festival was also extended to three days. In the same year international artists such as Dog Eat Dog played alongside national bands such as the Donots or Emil Bulls for the first time. At the festival's five-year anniversary in 2010, Billy Idol headlined alongside the German band The BossHoss .
In 2014 the festival, which the organizers organize on a voluntary basis, was canceled because not enough professional supporters or investors could be found. The festival took place again in 2015, but the number of performing artists was lower than in previous years, and the period had also been shortened by one day. The expected number of visitors was nevertheless far exceeded. On Thursday evening, the rush to the available camping areas was so great that two more alternative areas, including sanitary facilities and lighting, were set up overnight with the support of the city of Sulingen. Black Stone Cherry's appearance was canceled because they got lost on the way to the festival. The 11th festival (2016) took place in midsummer temperatures and posted a new visitor record. Thanks to the deployment of various rescue workers and the local fire brigade, who sprinkled visitors with water to cool off, there were no significant incidents. In 2018 the festival was completely sold out for the first time shortly before the start with over 12,000 visitors.
Infrastructure (2017)
More than 220 toilets were available for the more than 10,000 paying visitors, five of which were barrier-free.
The installed electrical output has been 3.2 megawatts since 2016 , which corresponds to around 53,000 light bulbs. A total of 10 kilometers of power cables were laid. In addition, 14 diesel emergency generators and 22 light masts were required.
A total of around 260 employees work for the festival, plus ten forklifts, a telescopic loader, two wheel loaders and a tractor.
15 nightliners and five production trucks were available for the 29 bands with 200 artists and crew .
