history

From the independent band X-Rated and the duo Willi and Albi (guitar folk with North American characteristics), the group Irish Duo emerged in early 1990 with Ralf Albers, Peter Pathos and Rainer Schulz , which with three other members soon received the name Fiddler's Green and at Erlangen Newcomer Festival in November 1990 immediately took second place. The first album Fiddler's Green was then created in August 1992 .

In 2001, the drummer Wolfram Kellner switched to the Erlangen-based band JBO , with which he is still active today.

In the summer of 2004 took place on Hoheneck castle the 1,000. The band's concert took place, which was recorded on two DVDs and a live CD.

On April 30, 2006 Peter Pathos played his last concert with Fiddler's Green. He left the band to work on other musical projects as Peter Kafka . His successor Patrick Pat Prziwara was presented on May 17, 2006 at a concert at the Kammerspiele in Ansbach. In January 2007 the album Drive Me Mad was released. After a year and a half touring, the band recorded another album in the summer of 2008, which was released in January 2009 under the title Sports Day at Killaloe , which was followed by another year and a half touring. The tour included appearances at well-known metal festivals.

To mark the 20th anniversary of the band, two anniversary concerts were held at the Erlangen E-Werk on March 18 and 19, 2010, at which the band appeared as their own supporting act and played an acoustic set. Both concerts were recorded and a summary was published on the live CD and DVD Folk's Not Dead . In 2011, Fiddler's Green played several support gigs for In Extremo . In the same year, the studio album Wall of Folk was released, which reached number 24 in the German album charts. With the studio album Winners and Boozers , released in 2013 , the band reached number 7 in the German album charts and stayed in the top 100 for five weeks. The subsequent tour through Germany, Austria, the Netherlands and Switzerland was the most successful in the band's history. Among other things, the band performed at the Kölner Tanzbrunnen at the anniversary festival of the band Schandmaul in front of 12,000 spectators.

In 2015, for the 25th anniversary of the band, the compilation 25 Blarney Roses was released , which reached number 30 in the German charts. On the subsequent 25 Blarney Roses - the anniversary tour , special guests such as Eric Fish performed ; appeared as a recording of the concert in October 2015 in Cologne , the CD / DVD 25 Blarney Roses - Live in Cologne. In 2016 the band released the album Devil's Dozen. The album Heyday followed in 2019.
