Walls of Jericho is a metalcore band from Detroit , Michigan , USA, founded in 1998 .
history
Walls of Jericho emerged from the Earthmover group. In 1999 they released a first single, shortly afterwards the first EP A Day And A Thousand Years was released on Genet Records. At the turn of the millennium they released the album The Bound Feed The Gagged on Trustkill Records . In early 2001, drummer Keely decided to leave the band. However, his successor Derek Grant was soon poached by Alkaline Trio , and the unsuccessful search for a new drummer led to the band almost breaking up. After a longer break, this position could then be filled with Alexei Rodriguez.
In 2004, the album All Hail The Dead (again via Trustkill Records) was released, whereupon Rodriguez left the band. Dustin Schoenhofer, a long-time friend of the band, was able to close the gap quickly. On August 22, 2006, the album With Devils Amongst Us All followed . It follows a more melodic direction and partly goes away from the pure hardcore of the early days.
Collaboration with Corey Taylor / Redemption EP
The EP Redemption , which was released in 2008, was produced with Slipknot and Stone Sour singer Corey Taylor . Taylor took over the vocals on the EP alongside Kucsulain. The front man and the band met on the Family Values Tour in 2006. Taylor liked the band's music, especially the song No Saving Me . Thereupon he offered Kusculain another collaboration, which failed because of time problems. Stylistically, the "Redemption" EP is rather untypical for Walls of Jericho, as they are calm songs with clear vocals.
The American Dream (2008)
With the release of the album The American Dream in 2008, Walls of Jericho made another musical step towards Hardcore / Metal. As with With Devils Amongst Us All, the album was produced by Ben Schigel.
After a long break, due to a baby break by front woman Candace Kucsulain, Walls of Jericho performed again in Germany on the Persistence Tour in January 2012.
