We Butter The Bread With Butter (abbreviated WBTBWB ) is a metalcore - band from Berlin .
history
The band's founders Marcel Neumann, previously guitarist with Martin Kesici , and Tobias Schultka had worked together for some time, but only had time to record an album in the 2008 semester break.
From the debut album The Monster from the Closet , 100 copies were initially pressed and distributed by the company. The album was then put on and released on November 21, 2008 on the Redfield Records label . It also appeared in North America at the same time .
Among other things, the band sets new children's songs to music . On the “Infiziert” tour in 2008 they were on the road together with the metalcore band Callejon and the post-hardcore band The Parachutes . The band also played concerts with A Day to Remember . Then she devoted herself to the production of her second album. It is titled The Day the World Ended and was released on May 14, 2010 in Europe, the USA and Japan.
In the course of the production of the new album, three new musicians joined WBTBWB. Kenneth Iain Duncan took over as the second guitarist, Maximilian Pauly Saux played bass from now on and Can Özgünsür was the band's first drummer .
In July 2010 Tobias Schultka decided to leave the band because he wanted to concentrate on other things in his life.
From 2010 to 2012 the band played various shows. Band founder and guitarist Marcel Neumann counts the spontaneous support for Slipknot in the Columbia Halle Berlin on June 21, 2011 and the support for the Get-Infected Europe Tour 2012 from Caliban among her highlights at that time.
On November 22nd, 2012 the band started a campaign on the crowdfunding platform Pledge to finance their third album, a new EP and other projects. After reaching the previously set goal of 400 pre-orders, the EP entitled Project Heart was made available for download on December 18, 2012 on PledgeMusic. The release of the LP, which was announced for early 2013, was postponed due to a producer change. According to a video announcement in which the band members presented themselves in the style of characters from the TV series South Park , the album Goldkinder was released on August 9, 2013.
On May 22nd, 2015, the fourth album, Wieder Geil! with their new label AFM Records , with a subsequent European tour.
The single Klicks was released on January 20, 2017 . Likes. Fame. Geil !, in the accompanying video, the band takes a critical look at the behavior of many users in the social media area. In the following two years, apart from a few festival appearances, it was quiet about We Butter the Bread with Butter. On April 12, 2019, singer Paul Bartzsch announced that he was leaving the band. Only a few months later, the band published a brief statement on Facebook confirming the return of Tobias Schultka. Finally, the next single was for November 30th with the name Dreh auf! announced.
style
We Butter the Bread with Butter mix in their songs the most diverse styles such as ( Melodic ) Death Metal , Metalcore and Electro . Marcel Neumann prefers to call her style “Modern Metalcore”.
On the album The Monster from the Closet , the two musicians almost exclusively set well-known German children's songs to music (e.g. Alle meine Entchen , Hänschen klein or Backe, bake Kuchen ). According to its own statements from the second album, however, WBTBWB did not want “The monster from the closet. 2 ”and so they decided to write their own songs.
The former singer Tobias Schultka used almost only guttural singing . While the lyrics of the first recordings are entirely in German, the album Wieder geil! English texts for the first time, sung by Paul Bartzsch.
Band name
The band name "We Butter the Bread with Butter" came about because they were bored of many other band names, which were often relatively long and sounded gloomy. For this reason, a name was chosen that is similar in length, but makes it clear that the band is about "super normal guys" who "feel like music". Translated, the band name means "We butter the bread with butter" or "We smear the bread with butter".
