The With Full Force is a place held annually in early summer music festival for metal , hardcore and punk . In 2011 more than 30,000 guests visited the festival for the first time.
In June 2017, the festival took place for the first time on the Ferropolis site near Graefenhainichen , because the organizer could no longer guarantee that the festival was held at the Roitzschjora airfield and the associated increasing security requirements of the local regulatory authorities.
At the end of September 2018, the organizers announced a change in the name of the festival and the musical direction, which will be more broadly based from 2019.
history
Based on a “fixed idea”, the first With Full Force took place in the Werdau city park in 1994 , and the organizers named Dynamo Open Air as a model . The event counted 2,500 visitors. As in the following year, the festival took place on one day. Due to the strong increase in visitor numbers, the third With Full Force had to be relocated to Zwickau airfield in 1996 and took place over two days for the first time. After three years, the venue moved to Roitzschjora to the glider airfield there in 1999, where the festival took place on the first weekend in July until 2016. As the reason for the move, co-organizer Roland Ritter named the official requirements regarding volume and playing time. The festival has been organized by WITH FULL FORCE Veranstaltungs GmbH since 2002.
In addition to established groups such as Iron Maiden , Rammstein , Marilyn Manson , Motörhead , In Extremo , Slayer , Machine Head , Soulfly , Hatebreed , Amon Amarth , Children of Bodom , In Flames , Sick of It All , Manowar , Agnostic Front and Slipknot is the festival also a platform for smaller bands. For the success of the Thuringian metalcore band Heaven Shall Burn, their appearances at the festival were an important career point.
In addition to the musical program, there is a market for sound carriers and merchandising , a karaoke stage as well as skateboarding and freestyle motocross events. If the German national soccer team matches the event, they will be broadcast on a big screen, for example the Germany-Argentina game at the 2010 World Cup. From 2002 to 2010, except for 2006, a live DVD was released annually, usually one song per year Including performed band.
In 2005, more than 25,000 people (including 5,000 day visitors) visited the festival for the first time. The 18th With Full Force, which took place from July 1st to 3rd, 2011, was the most successful in the history of the WFF with more than 30,000 visitors.
During the 2012 festival, on the night of June 30th to July 1st, 2012, as a result of a severe thunderstorm with wind force 11, lightning struck a light pole next to a cocktail bar on the campsite. 69 festival visitors were injured, some seriously, by the lightning strike. Three of the visitors were initially at risk of death and resuscitation measures had to be carried out. The festival continued on Sunday.
The 2013 edition of the festival sparked a major controversy in advance, as the performance of the two controversial bands Frei, Wild and Inaccessible was planned for this. The announcement of Frei.Wild's appearance soon sparked protests on social networks such as Facebook and prompted the music magazine Visions to post an opinion against the band's appearance. Finally, u. a. Visions , Jägermeister and the Tattoo Magazine have returned their support for the festival. In response to this, both bands finally canceled their performance a few days later.
