Pöbel & Gesocks is an Oi - Punk band from the Ruhr area .
Band history
The band was founded in 1979 under the name Beck's Pistols . In 1990 she released her first album Pöbel und Gesocks with pieces from the early days and became known to a wider audience. The only still active founding member is Willi Wucher , who also ran the record label and distributor Scumfuck and the fanzine "Raumschiff Wucherpreis". He stopped these activities in 2009 and now dedicates himself only to his music. The band uses an " anti-social " image. The song content revolves around sex, the punk scene and excessive alcohol consumption.
In 2012 Jennes left the band. His successor is CB, who previously played with the band Cotzraiz .
Name change
Due to an injunction by the Beck brewery , the band was not allowed to continue using their name. The trigger was a trainee from the brewery who had put on a band's T-shirt to work. After a survey in the in-house fanzine Scumfuck Tradition , the new and at the same time current name Pöbel und Gesocks was chosen. The name goes back to one of their most famous songs and is used in the skinhead and punk scenes . a. also often used as a greeting word.
criticism
Willi Wucher was accused of serving the right-wing extremist scene with his record label , as he had business relationships with the record label DIM Records until the end of March 2003 . He was also criticized for attending a Skrewdriver concert, which he later reported on in his fanzine. The band was also criticized because right-wing extremist skinheads present at their concerts were tolerated under the pretext of the apolitical "Unity" idea. In 2003, Willi Wucher commented on these allegations and made a statement. In this declaration, the band and singer clearly distance themselves from the right-wing extremist scene.
