Nails is an American power violence band from Oxnard , California .
Band history
Nails was founded in 2007 by singer and guitarist Todd Jones (ex- Terror ), John Gianelli and Taylor Young. The band initially released two short self-published albums with Obscene Humanity (2009) and Unsilent Death (2010), limited to 1,000 copies. The band was then signed by Southern Lord , who re-released Unsilent Death . 2013 saw the release of the group's third album, Abandon All Life . In 2014 the band switched to the music label Nuclear Blast , on which their current album You Will Never Be One Of Us (2016) was released.
Music genre
The music of Nails is assigned to the genre Powerviolence , which is characterized by a very fast and extreme sound. The band combines influences from grindcore , hardcore punk , crustcore and extreme varieties of metal . All Nails albums were produced by Converge guitarist Kurt Ballou , so that the brutal and raw sound of the band is accompanied by a powerful production that is not always common for the genre. Also characteristic of the band's music are their mostly very short compositions, so that their first three albums do not exceed a playing time of just 15 minutes. On their latest album "You Will Never Be One Of Us" (2016), however, longer pieces are represented.
