Krisiun is a Brazilian death metal - band from Ijuí , which was founded in 1990 levels. The band name goes back to the crater Mare Crisium (lat. "Sea of Crises").

history

The band was founded in Ijuí in 1990 by the three brothers Moyses Kolesne (electric guitar), Max Kolesne (drums) and bassist and singer Alex Camargo, who had chosen his mother's maiden name as his last name . After the group released two demos, Evil Age (1991) and The Plague (1992), they decided to move to São Paulo . During this time Altemir Souza was still represented as the second guitarist. He later left the band to join Torture Squad .

In São Paulo the group reached a contract with Dynamo Records , about which in March 1993 the EP Unmerciful Order , which was originally self-financed and recorded independently. All three members were given the surname Kolesne on the phonogram. In January of the same year, the split release Curse of the Evil One was released together with Violent Hate, which was produced by Tchelo Martins . Another split release with Harmony Dies was released in October via Rotthenness Records , with the recordings taking place in the Anonimato Record Studios in São Paulo under the direction of Sergio Sakamoto . The same label released their debut album Black Force Domain in 1995 , which was recorded in Army Studios in São Paulo, before Gun Records became aware of the band and signed them.

This was followed by tours through Europe until 1998 , as well as appearances together with Napalm Death , Cradle of Filth , Borknagar , Kreator , Dimmu Borgir , Richthofen and Morbid Angel . In addition, the album Apocalyptic Revelation was released on Gun Records in August 1998 . The sound carrier was recorded by Simon Fuhrmann in the German Music Lab Studios . In 2012 the band played in Munich , among others , together with Malevolent Creation , Vital Remains , Karnak and Pestifer .

style

According to laut.de , Krisiun was initially strongly influenced by groups like Black Sabbath and Dio , but after the musicians came into contact with Slayer's show No Mercy and Morbid Angel , the band switched to extreme metal . In The Collector's Guide of Heavy Metal Volume 4: The '00s , Krisiun and Conquerors of Armageddon are counted among the best death metal bands Brazil has to offer. The music is often reminiscent of the Florida Death Metal style , with the songs often having exotic or " doomy " melodies. The use of blast beats is also characteristic. Deicide and Morbid Angel are named as comparison bands. As usual, Ageless Venomous offers technically demanding Death Metal with aggressive, guttural vocals , although the poor recording quality of the bass drum makes the album inaudible. Classic, technically demanding and fast played Death Metal can also be heard on Works of Carnage . On Bloodshed, on the other hand, the band is more mature, moving away from faster songs and fixating more on the groove . AssassiNation also offers classic Death Metal with catchy riffs . The aggressive and fast bass drum is particularly striking on Southern Storm .

In a Metal-Hammer interview in 2006, Alex Camargo stated that he was lyrically influenced mainly by David Vincent and commented on the texts on AssassiNation as follows: “Especially breaking sexual taboos in one's own teachings is nothing new in church history. But the institution has seldom been held accountable; politics and religion seem immune. We protest against it. [...] It's not about black magic or virgin sacrifice. Humanity destroys itself, the thought of salvation in a later life can no longer hold us off ”. In an interview in 2003, Moyses Kolsne stated that initially bands like AC / DC and Black Sabbath and later Slayer and Metallica influenced Krisiun. Martin Wickler from Metal Hammer found the music on Conquerors of Armageddon to be “heavy” and “hectic”, although the riffs were crisp. According to Stefan Müller from Metal Hammer , the band also played fast-paced Death Metal on Ageless Venomous , with deep, guttural vocals. According to Wickler, Krisiun also played technically adept Death Metal with fast double bass on Works of Carnage , whereby the playing speed of the songs was almost always high. According to Anzo Sadoni from Metal Hammer , the speed of the songs on AssassiNation decreased, but is often still very high. It was the most varied album in the band's history up to that point. Thomas Strater from Metal Hammer stated that the band are continuing the path they had taken on AssassiNation on Southern Storm and are now increasingly relying on mid-tempo pieces and groove. In Metal Hammer , Moyses Kolesne stated that the band had tried harder to bring out their Thrash Metal roots on Southern Storm and mentions the Slayer song Angel of Death as an influence . According to Robert Müller from Metal Hammer , the biggest innovation on The Great Execution was the acoustic guitars used. Krisiun knows how to combine classic death metal elements with non-metallic elements, like Nile.
