Metalmania
Metal Mania is a year in Poland held forming metal festival .
history
The festival was founded in 1986 as the second major Polish music festival after the rock festival in Jarocin , which has been the largest rock festival for young people of the Warsaw Pact since 1980 . Seventeen bands, including Kat , Imperator and Vader , played at the first Metalmania on April 4th and 5th, 1986 in the Spodek Hall in Katowice . Since 1988 the festival has only taken place on one day. This year Rage and Kreator appeared among others . In 1989 Protector and Living Death were among the twelve bands that played at the festival. The fifth Metalmania took place on April 21, 1990, with Acid Drinkers , Kreator and Protector, among others .
After 1990 the festival was temporarily relocated to other locations in the Upper Silesian industrial area . In 1991 the festival took place in Jastrzębie-Zdrój , it performed among others Despair , Vader, Pungent Stench , Holy Moses , Candlemass and Atrocity . 1992 played alongside others Grave , Paradise Lost , Sepultura and Massacre in the Baildon Hall in Katowice . From 1993 to 1995 the festival was held in the MOSiR hall in Zabrze , and bands such as Therion (1993), Cannibal Corpse (1993, 1994), Carcass (1993), Death (1993, 1995), Samael (1994) performed , 1995), Unleashed (1994, 1995) and Morbid Angel (1994).
In 1996 the Metalmania took place in the Municipal Culture and Sports Center in Jaworzno with bands like Moonspell and Fear Factory . In 1997 and 1998 it returned to its traditional location in the Spodek Hall, where it has finally taken root since 2000. In 1999 the festival took place for the last time in the Baildon Hall in Katowice . During these years bands like The Gathering (1997, 1998), Samael (1997, 1999), Moonspell (1997), Tiamat (1997), Anathema (1997, 1999), Judas Priest (1998), Morbid Angel (1998), Vader (1998, 1999), Therion (1998), Hammerfall (1998), Dimmu Borgir (1998), Gorefest (1998) and Lacuna Coil (1999) at Metalmania.
Metalmania is now the most important metal festival in Poland, the largest metal festival in Eastern Europe and at the same time one of the largest indoor metal festivals worldwide. For a number of years, the bands' performances have been recorded and then released on DVD . Since 2003 there has been another small stage in addition to the big stage, so that around 25 bands play every day.
