Knut Magne Valle
Knut Magne Valle (* 1974 ) is a Norwegian guitarist , composer , sound engineer and music producer . He is best known for his work with Arcturus , but he also owns a recording studio and organizes music festivals .
Life and work
He grew up with two older siblings on a farm in Gjerstad in southern Norway and showed an interest in sound engineering and various musical instruments from a young age. In 1990 he founded the Gjerstad Rockeklubb in an old sawmill on the family property. In Mosjøen he took a one-year course in sound engineering, then went to Oslo to work as a musician and producer. At the end of 1996 he joined Arcturus for Carl August Tidemann and has since been involved in all of the band's new releases. He was briefly a member of Ulver , with whom he recorded Themes from William Blake's The Marriage of Heaven and Hell in 1998. He also made a guest appearance on Fleurety's Department of Apocalyptic Affairs in 2000 . During this time he worked as a sound engineer and producer for Arcturus, Aura Noir , Fleurety, Ragnarok and Ulver.
In 2002, Valle, now married and father of three, returned to Gjerstad. Two years later, he opened Mølla Studio in an old water mill on the family property that he had been working on renovating since 1997. There he now recorded albums with the aforementioned bands and (partly as a guest musician) with Mayhem , the Gothic Metal band Ancestral Legacy and the Black Metal band Nidingr . The Mølla Festival has been held annually on the property since 2003, for which Valle was awarded a cultural prize in 2011. In addition, his work was the subject of an economics dissertation.
