The Norwegian National Opera is the first live DVD by the Norwegian band Ulver . It was published on November 28, 2011 by Kscope .

Creation and publication

After Ulver was convinced in May 2009 to appear live at the Norwegian Literature Festival for the first time since 1993, they gave numerous concerts in large parts of Europe in the following years. The performance on July 31, 2010 at the Oslo Opera House was recorded in sound and image. The recordings were mixed by Ulver and Anders Møller in Crystal Canyon Studio in Oslo and mastered by Jaime Gomez Arellano in Orgone Studio in London. The live album was released on DVD and Blu-ray on November 28, 2011 (also on CD and LP on April 2, 2013) and contains 17 tracks from the post-black metal era.

reception

“There is no bonus material. […] With such an elaborate event something like a 'making of' would have been appropriate. The DVD / BluRay is definitely a worthwhile purchase. "

- Jochen Rindfrey : Baby blue pages

“The visual support is on an equal footing with the performance of the musicians involved […] - the selection of images underlines the artistic approach that manifests itself on the band's studio releases. The excerpts seem disturbing, gloomy, sometimes grotesque [...]. "

- Falk Wehmeier : metal.de

"A powerful, visually stunning and sonically impeccable reflection of recent ULVER history, a must-have for fans and perfect for beginners who want to deal with the band's post-Black Metal era."

- Michael We. : nonpop.de
