extended variant

The type 1 is a coaster type of Sietas in Neuenfelde .

history

In 1962 Ursula Block was extended

The series was ordered by various shipping companies from the late 1950s and built in nine units from 1958 to 1961. Initially, the ships were mainly used for small and medium-sized voyages. The type was later found, often extended and mostly without loading gear , in the worldwide coastal voyage.

technology

The ships have two holds . Due to the largely undeveloped shape of the hold with little undercutting , this type of ship can also be used in cellulose or parcel wood transport. In addition, the ships have a level tank ceiling thanks to the continuous double floor . Simple wooden hatch covers with a sea-proof tarpaulin cover were used. As standard, the ships had three cargo booms with a load capacity of two tons each.

The type 1 ships have a total length of 52.26 m (46.16 meters Lpp , 48.83 m freeboard length ) and a width of 8.94 m. Several units were subsequently converted by Sietas in the 1960s, with a hull that was extended to 59.96 m Lüa (53.86 m Lpp, 56.60 m freeboard length).

The ships in the series are powered by four-stroke diesel engines from various manufacturers, which act on a fixed propeller in the majority of ships. The engines were usually throttled from 500 to 300 hp.
