As Unterstaudach in which is shipping the part of the loading space referred to a cargo ship, which under the fixed deck is located outside of the hatch area. During the loading and stowing process, the cargo items have to be moved horizontally, i.e. stowed under. The stowage path depends on the degree of deck opening . In modern open ships, there is little or almost no undercuffing, which has a positive effect on handling times.
