Blood Inside is the sixth studio album by the Norwegian band Ulver . It was released by Jester Records in 2005 and was distributed by Voices Music & Entertainment .
Creation and publication
After several EPs and soundtracks in the early 2000s, Ulver recorded a regular studio album again in 2004, in Oslo and Los Angeles. Guest musicians included Bosse , Håvard Jørgensen , Mike Keneally (both guitar), Carl-Michael "Czral" Eide , Knut Aalefjær (both drums), Andreas Mjøs ( vibraphone ), Jeff Gauthier (violin) and Maja Ratkje (choirs). Parts of the album were mixed by Ronan Chris Murphy, it was mastered by Audun Strype. A music video was produced for "It Is Not Sound" . Blood Inside was released as a regular CD, in a limited red velvet box and on LP with a different cover .

A toccata by Johann Sebastian Bach was used for the coda of “It Is Not Sound” . The lyrics to "Christmas" were originally written by Fernando Pessoa .
style
Blood Inside largely leaves the minimalist trip-hop and ambient of the previous album Perdition City and the EPs behind, is more song-oriented and processes influences from numerous genres. It can be found orchestral arrangements, big band - samples , psychedelic soundscapes, rhythms from Electronica and Industrial and motifs from jazz , progressive rock and post-rock . There are quieter, medium-paced and hectic passages with spherical, anthemic or dissonant melodies; the atmosphere is mostly gloomy.
reception
Blood Inside received a positive response from the press. Gunnar Claussen from Babyblauen Seiten praises the “exciting modern music full of associations and influences”. Eduardo Rivadavia from Allmusic finds the album inspiring and brave. Wehrmut from the online magazine Vönger thinks Blood Inside is "a very difficult, but probably also the best Ulver album from the new era".
The piece LikeMusic in 2010 for the soundtrack of the Norwegian Action drama Sebastians Verden used In the Red 2011 for the soundtrack of the thriller blindness . The cover of the LP edition was part of the Plateomslag exhibition in 2015. Vinylens comeback at the National Museum Oslo .
