Carl-Michael Eide
Carl-Michael Eide , also known under the pseudonyms Exhurtum , C. Michael , Aggressor , Kardex and Czral , is a Norwegian musician.
Life
Eide grew up as the son of a musician and mother with a keen interest in music. Through his aunt he came into contact with The Residents , De-Press , Holy Toy and classical music. At the age of seven he started playing in the school orchestra. Under the pseudonym Exhurtum he was the drummer in the band Eczema, which later renamed itself to Satyricon . After Satyr joined the band and took over, he fired oaths because he preferred to spend his time with his girlfriend at the time than knocking over tombstones with the band. After getting to know Garm , he founded the band Ulver with him , who played Thrash Metal until the composition of the demo recording Vargnatt . As Garm became increasingly Nordic, Eide lost interest in the band, and when Ulvers Iranian bassist Reza was fired because of his non-Norwegian origins, he dropped out. Eide also received a racist comment on his musical activities with the half-Indian Vicotnik . He and Vicotnik then moved away from the scene. When the according to Vercingentórixa, editor of the Rites of Eleusis , "poetic / astral" and according to Sonderkrig "depressive and visionary" texts of Eides and Vicotnik's band Ved Buens Ende were written, Eide was, according to his own statements, at the limit of his mental health. He doesn't think he can write such texts again these days; his new texts are more reflections and observations than visionary and depressive texts, but the darkness will always shine through them. But he could not return to his way of thinking from 1994/1995; he must allow himself to stay healthy and otherwise he cannot function as a musician or person. In 1993 he also founded Aura Noir as a side project of his band Ved Buens Ende. In 1997 he played drums on a tour of Dimmu Borgir ; although he didn't like their music, he took part, as it was a tour with Kreator . Since he did not want to reveal his name, he used the pseudonym Kardex and painted his face green.
In Vicotnik's band Dødheimsgard , Eide played drums and guitar on the album 666 International , released in 1999 via Moonfog Productions , the record company of his former co-musician Satyr . He also played for Cadaver . After the band broke up, he wanted to give up playing drums. In addition, he was "annoyed and bored by this whole procedure of live playing".
In 2005, Eide fell from the fifth floor, whereupon he had two operations and was initially kept in a coma ; for the time being it wasn't certain whether he would be paralyzed from the waist down; Apollyon briefed the media on Oath's health condition. Vicotnik, on the other hand, did not comment on the incident because it was an oath affair and he did not want to spread his personal story through the media. The 2005 Naer Mataron album Discipline Manifesto , on which he sang with Land of Dreams , and Absus Mythological Occult Metal were dedicated to him. Shortly after his accident, Eide composed new pieces and albums again, concentrating only on playing the guitar; he was fed up with playing the drums, which towards the end felt more like a responsibility than playing an instrument. He did not remain permanently paralyzed, but was able to walk with crutches at the end of 2008.
