Ved Buens end (own notation: Ved Buens end ..... such as: 'At the end of the rainbow ') was a Norwegian experimental Metal - band , which was founded in the 1994th

Band history

The founding members were already active in the Norwegian black metal scene, for example Aggressor had played with Satyricon and Ulver , Vicotnik founded Dødheimsgard in 1994 , Skoll was bassist with Ulver and Fimbulwinter at the time . After the demo Those Who Caress the Pale , Diamanda from Misanthropy Records became aware of Ved Buen's end through a friend she was visiting from Norway and signed her. The album Written in Waters was released on the label in 1995 . Guest singer Lill Katherine Stensrud was also featured on Ulvers debut album Bergtatt - Et Eeventyr i 5 Capitler . This was followed by appearances with Impaled Nazarene in Great Britain, Simen Hestnæs and Steinar Sverd Johnsen were part of the live cast.

Despite good reviews, the band broke up in 1997. The demo and debut album were reissued in 1997 and 2002 with different artwork. Aggressor, now also known as Czral, remained primarily active with Aura Noir and founded Virus in 2000 , which stood in the tradition of Ved Buens Ende. After recovering from a fall from a window in March 2005, when his feet became paralyzed, he tried to reform Ved Buens Ende in April 2006. Einar “Necrodevil” Sjursø from Infernö was supposed to replace Czral as drummer, Petter “Plenum” Berntsen from Virus was temporarily the new bass player, Bjørn Boge was then to become studio bassist. Recordings for a new album were announced, but in January 2007 the band announced their breakup.

After another new edition of the album, the band completed a number of festival appearances in 2019 (with Eide, Parvez, Mingay and drummer Øyvind Myrvoll).

Music style and lyrics

The music of Ved Buens Ende combines black metal influences with aspects of post-rock , crooning and jazz- influenced drums and bass playing. According to Vercingentórixa, editor of the Rites of Eleusis , the band has “a unique way of writing eerie, avant-garde, nostalgic music with poetic / astral texts” that seem to come from another dimension. According to Diamanda from Misanthropy Records, the band doesn't have much to do with black metal, instead they are beyond any categorization. MusicMight, on the other hand, sees the sounds in the Black Metal area. Sonderkrig described the lyrics as "depressed and visionary". Eide stated that he was at the limit of his mental health and did not think he could write such texts again today; his new texts are more reflections and observations than visionary and depressive texts, but the darkness will always shine through them. But he could not return to his way of thinking from 1994/1995; he must allow himself to stay healthy and otherwise he cannot function as a musician or person.
