Nekromantheon is a Norwegian thrash metal band from Kolbotn that was formed in 2005.

history

The band was founded in summer 2005 by guitarist Arild "Arse" Myren Torp and drummer Christian "Kick" Holm. The band name comes from Torp after a trip to Greece : The band name means something like "Temple of the Dead" and refers to a temple in Parga . The band recorded the EP We're Rotting with bass player Sindre Solem and released it in 2007. Glenn “Biffen” Iversen joined the band as a singer during the recordings for the EP and the split release Speed 'n' Spikes Vol. II , but this left the band in 2008. Ultimately, Torp also took over the vocals. The band later recorded the debut album Divinity of Death in their own studio and released it on High Roller Records in 2010. Carl-Michael Eide could then be heard as a guest musician. The publication followed various appearances, including at the Maryland Death Fest . The performance was part of a US tour. Also in 2010 the band played in London at the Live Evil Festival . In early 2012, the second album Rise, Vulcan Specter , was released via Indie Recordings . The title refers to the Roman god Vulcanus . The album won the Spellemann Prize in the "Metal" category. In the same year the band played at the Inferno Metal Festival Norway .

style

According to laut.de , the band plays fast and hard Thrash Metal. The album Divinity of Death can be heard influences from bands like Destruction , Kreator , Sodom , Slayer , Venom and Death Angel . Rise, Vulcan Specter continue the style of the predecessor. On the sound carrier, the band is based heavily on the Thrash Metal of the 1980s. Christian "Kick" Holm cited influences such as Mutilator , Sepultura , Vulcano , Voivod , Trouble , Darkthrone , Repulsion , Emerson, Lake and Palmer , Rush , Magma , Cadaver , Deathhammer and Orcustus in the band biography on hrrecords.de . The texts mostly refer to ancient Greek mythology and Roman and Greek history . Occasionally there are alcohol-affirming party songs. With the music they want to pay tribute to albums like Slayers Hell Awaits , Dark Angels Darkness Descends and Sacrifices Forward to Termination . In an interview with Jakob Kranz from Metal Hammer , the bassist Solem stated that the band prefers raw and dark Thrash Metal, which is why the production should be raw and the band forego click tracks . In addition to Aura Noir , whose member Ole Jørgen Moe was his neighbor, Solem gave Slayer albums such as Hell Awaits , Reign in Blood and Haunting the Chapel as influences. According to Tom Küppers from Metal Hammer , the band plays on Rise, Vulcan Specter Thrash Metal, which corresponds to the early works of Possessed , Dark Angel and Venom. The sound is based almost exactly on the original of the 1980s, including the sound of tom toms , which sound "musty". Küppers described the music as a mixture of Celtic Frost , Slayer in the times of Hell Awaits and the singing of Conrad Lant .
