Mutilator was a Brazilian death and thrash metal band that was formed in Belo Horizonte , Minas Gerais , in 1985 , separated in 1989, and briefly reunited in 2001 before reuniting later that year dissolved.

history

The band was founded in 1985 under the name Desaster. When Sílvio SDN joined, the band renamed themselves Mutilator. Together they recorded a first demo. They also appeared on the split album Warfare Noise I , which also featured Chakal , Sarcófago and Holocausto .

In 1987 singer Sílvio SDN left the band. This was followed by the recordings of the first album, which should be called Immortal Force . In 1988 a second album followed with Into the Strange . The album featured two new members: guitarist CM and drummer Armando (previously with Holocausto). The band split a year later. In 2001 a reunification attempt followed, which failed due to the death of Alexander "Magoo" in the same year.

style

In the Slayer - Fanzine the style of a rehearsal room / demo recording Mutilators was described as rough, dark Death Metal and especially the Bathory cover Raise the Dead was praised, but the sound of the studio recordings for Warfare Noise was described as too weak compared to the previous recordings. According to Cogumelo Records, the style of the debut Immortal Force is influenced by Slayer , Possessed and Bathory, the second album Into the Strange tended more towards Thrash Metal.
