Cogumelo Records is a record label in Brazil , focused on subsurface - Metal and Punk has specialized.

history

Cogumelo was founded in 1980 as a rock record store. In 1985 the decision was made to publish their own records under the label Cogumelo Records. The split LP Século XX / Bestial Devastation by Sepultura and Overdose, which was then issued in 1,000 copies, was sold out within a month and was reprinted a total of 20,000 times by 1989. Since 1986, Cogumelo has released material from death metal and black metal bands from the Brazilian underground, including other albums by Sepultura, the debut INRI by Sarcófago and other releases by Brazilian extreme metal bands. The compilation LP Lost Tapes of Cogumelo with demo material from the first bands under contract with the label has become a sought-after rarity today.

The label is active up to the present (December 2006), the label catalog includes approx. 100 different titles, about half of which are available in several formats (vinyl and CD). The label is mostly only distributed in South America; in the rest of the world the successful titles are available in licensed editions from major distributors such as Roadrunner Records or Music for Nations .

One of the former bands is u. a. Attomica .
