style

In contrast to the atmospherically relatively calm previous album Sideshow Symphonies , Arcturian is harder, more varied and more adventurous, a “mixture of Black Metal , Progressive Rock , avant-garde and classical elements”. Guitars stand out more with hard riffs and melodic solos. In addition to the overall dominant keyboard, a violin is always used. In addition to electronic effects and rhythms used. The singing is varied.

reception

The reactions to the band's first album in 10 years have been positive. Wu Gang from Rock Hard thinks that Arcturus “stay on course with all stylistic twists and never lose sight of a targeted, coherent overall picture. [...] The title 'surprise hit of the year' should not be taken away from the album. ”Thomas Kohlruß from Babyblauen Seiten says:“ Musically, Arcturus haven't forgotten anything. [...] A worthy and impressive comeback. "Alex Klug from metal.de sums up:" Contemporary reincarnation without forgetting his roots - one way and no other. " Arcturian was at number 15 in the German charts for a week.
