Massacre ( English : "Massaker") is one of the first death metal bands.
history
The band was founded in Florida in 1984 after a falling out between Chuck Schuldiner , Kam Lee and Rick Rozz in the band Mantas (later Death ) . In 1987, Schuldiner brought Rick Rozz back into the band. He brought his bandmates, drummer Bill Andrews and bassist Terry Butler to Death , who already had a record deal and a released album, Scream Bloody Gore . As a result, Kam Lee was left alone for the time being. However, he was able to put together a new line-up and after the release of three demos , which were well received in the tape trading scene, he received a contract with the British record label Earache Records with “Massacre” . There the debut album From Beyond was released , which is considered a classic of early death metal today. After a break in 1996, the band tried to build on their old successes with a new album, but this did not succeed and the band broke up.
In 2007 there was a one-time reunion tour with Terry Butler (bass), Kam Lee (vocals), Steve Swansen (guitar), Sam Williams (guitar) and Curt Beeson (drums). They played their final concert at the Wacken Open Air 2008.
Kam Lee founded the band Denial Fiend with Terry Butler, Sam Williams and Curt Beeson , which played as the opening act for Massacre on the Reunion tour. Terry Butler and Steve Swanson are at Six Feet Under today .
2012 Massacre played with a new cast at the Wacken Open Air. On this occasion, the band released a new 7 "vinyl EP on the label Century Media. On 24 March 2014, the band released their comeback album Back From Beyond . In December 2014 was However, the band announced their breakup again, as singer Ed Webb and bassist Terry Butler had left the band.
