Imperator is a Polish death metal band. Along with Vader, they are one of the very first Polish extreme metal bands.
history
Imperator was founded in 1984 by Bariel and Adrian. The first rehearsal took place in January 1984, and Jacek and Tomek also played. In September 1985 Mefisto joined the band and they gave their first concert. In August 1986 she performed again at a festival. In December 1986 or 1987 at the Metalmania Festival, the demo recording Endless Sacrifice was made . This was followed by Deathlive , recorded at two festivals in the summer of 1987. Adrian left Imperator in September 1987 and was replaced by Moloch, with whom the band made their third and final demo recording, Eternal Might .
The band caught the attention of Mayhem guitarist Euronymous , who was interested in signing them to Deathlike Silence Productions . In 1990 the band signed with him. The album The Time Before Time was recorded in the winter of 1990/91; however, as Euronymous had financial problems, it was released through Nameless Productions from Poland. the record company went bankrupt shortly afterwards, which is why the album hardly received any promotion.
After their breakup, the band returned in the late 1990s and made a few appearances, but no founding members were involved. In 2000 the band played for the first time in Sweden, together with Repugnant and Kaamos in Stockholm. According to a report from Bariels in 2005, the band's activities have not finally ceased.
Music genre
At the beginning Bariel and Adrian wanted to play metal in the tradition of Mercyful Fate , Celtic Frost , Bathory , Slayer , Sodom and Tormentor / Kreator . According to these influences, the music was referred to as black metal as well as thrash metal or death metal. In the Tales of the Macabre the style was described as brutal, thrashy Death Metal in its rawest form.
