Warbringer is an American thrash metal band from Ventura, California .

history

The band was founded in 2004 under the name Onslaught , when the band members were playing cover versions of Manowar in the garage of guitarist John Laux . A short time later the band had to rename itself, as there was already a well-known British band under this name . Warbringer signed a contract with Century Media Records and changed their style to Old School Thrash Metal, which stylistically moves strongly in Thrash Metal of the 1980s. Warbringer were musically influenced mainly by bands like Slayer , Exodus and Metallica . Her debut album War Without End , released on February 22, 2008, received good reviews in the metal scene.

Warbringer was on tour supporting Exodus and Nile . After the tour through Europe in spring 2008 with Napalm Death and Suffocation , bassist Andy Laux, who could not take part in the tour as a student, was finally replaced by his representative Ben Benett. Also drummer Ryan Bates, who left the band at his own request, was replaced by Nic Ritter. Original bassist Andy Laux returned to the band on August 21, 2009. With the two following albums Walking into Nightmares and Worlds Torn Asunder Warbringer were able to develop a certain reputation in the Thrash Metal scene.

In 2013 the band recorded their fourth studio album IV: Empires Collapse and then toured the United States as the opening act for Kreator and Overkill . In 2014, Warbringer supported Iced Earth on their European tour. The album deviated significantly from the previous style of the band and provided a rather restrained response. Subsequently, John Laux and Carlos Cruz left the group in the course of internal quarrels, which made it questionable whether the band would continue to exist. In 2015, however, Warbringer came back with a new line-up and Adam Carroll, who had already helped out live on the previous tour, returned as a permanent member.

Carlos Cruz also rejoined the band at the end of the year, but the rest of the line-up continued to fluctuate. With live musicians on second guitar and bass, Warbringer toured North America again in 2016, this time with Enforcer , Exmortus and Cauldron . As a result, there were again changes in the line-up and a label change to Napalm Records , before the fifth album by the band Woe to the Vanquished was released in 2017, which marked the band's return to the original Thrash Metal.
