Enforcer is a Swedish heavy metal band from Arvika , Sweden .
history
The band was founded in 2004 as a solo project by Olof Wikstrand, who later only took on the vocals for studio recordings and vocals and guitar for live performances.
In the following years he was joined by guitarist Adam Zaars ( Tribulation , Repugnant ), bassist Joseph Tholl and Jonas Wikstrand on drums. The latter switched to bass guitar in 2007 and was represented on drums by Jakob Ljungberg, who left the band a short time later. In the line-up of Wikstrand / Zaars / Tholl / Wikstrand, the band recorded the debut album Into the Night from 2007-2008 , which was released by the American label Heavy Artillery .
After bassist Tobias Lindqvist joined in 2008, Joseph Tholl switched to guitar. With this line-up, Enforcer recorded their second studio album Diamonds from November 2009 to January 2010 , which was released by Heavy Artillery in North America and Earache Records in Europe. This was followed by a European tour with the bands Suicidal Angels , Steelwing and Cauldron under the name Power of Metal .
In October 2010, the band shot a music video for the song Midnight Vice from the album Diamonds . The director was Patric Ullaeus . In November and December 2010 a European tour followed as a support act for the Australian rock band Airbourne .
On March 22, 2011 the band announced the departure of guitarist Adam Zaars, whose position Olof Wikstrand will take over in addition to the vocals. In April Enforcer toured Europe with the bands Bullet and Skull Fist and then played at the Keep It True music festival .
style
The band is often assigned to heavy and occasionally speed metal . In his review of Diamonds, Andreas Himmelstein of Rock Hard magazine notes that "the main influences [are] still bands like early Maiden , Riot and a touch of Exciter or Savage Grace ". The album reached number 5 on the Richter scale in this issue.
