Arvika is located on Reichsstrasse ( riksväg ) 61 between Karlstad and the Norwegian Kongsvinger . The town is also connected to Årjäng and 175 to Säffle by road 172 .

The place has a station on the Värmlandsbahn , which is the direct rail link between Stockholm and Oslo (completed in 1871). In long-distance traffic - operated by SJ AB (SJ) - there are direct InterCity connections with Oslo and Stockholm; a pair of trains also connects Arvika to the Swedish X2000 network. Local trains ( länståg ) provide connections with Karlstad , Charlottenberg and Oslo.

Arvika-Westlanda Airport is three kilometers northeast of the city center .

The main tourist attraction in Arvika is the Rackstad Museum, which exhibits works by the Rackstad artists' colony, named after the nearby Racken Lake. There is also an automobile - Museum with the collected racing car based in Arvika rally - and Rallycross -Fahrers Per Eklund and a Rallycross track, called Westombanan (of Banan west om Arvika dt circuit west of Arvika.). A recurring event of importance is the port festival ( Arvika Hamnfest ). The Arvikafestival , 1992-2010, was one of the largest festivals in Scandinavia, with around 22,000 visitors most recently.
