Career
Jacob de la Rose began his career as an ice hockey player in his hometown of Arvika before moving to the youth team of the Nor IK from the fourth division Division 2 . In 2009 he got a place in the youth department of Färjestad BK , where he only played a total of 13 games. In the following season he moved to Leksands IF and played in the 2010/11 season mainly for the U18 team of the club. At the same time he made his debut for Leksand in the J20 SuperElit , the highest junior league in Sweden.
In the following season, de la Rose played as a 16-year-old parallel for the U20 team and the professional team Leksands in the HockeyAllsvenskan . There he scored two goals in 14 games in his 2011/12 debut season . In the following season he was able to establish himself permanently in the squad of the men's team and scored twelve points in 38 games, the highest value of an U18 player in the league. After Leksand had already failed in the Kvalserien the previous year , the club finally managed to rise to the first-class Svenska Hockeyligan as champions of Allsvenskan .
In the 2013 NHL Entry Draft , Jacob de la Rose was selected in the second round at a total of 34th position by the Canadiens de Montréal . At the same time, the Windsor Spitfires secured their transfer rights for the Canadian junior leagues in the CHL Import Draft . However, the Swede stayed in Leksand and achieved 13 points scorer in 49 missions in the 2013/14 SHL season .
In April 2014, the Swede signed his first contract with the Canadiens and started the 2014/15 season with their farm team at the time, the Hamilton Bulldogs , in the American Hockey League (AHL). In February 2015 he was called up to the Canadiens' NHL squad for the first time and thus made his debut in the National Hockey League . At the beginning of the 2017/18 season, the Swede established himself in the Montréals squad. However, when he was to be sent back to the AHL via the waiver in October 2018 , the Detroit Red Wings signed him , so that he left Montréal after more than four years. The attacker spent a little over a year in Detroit before being transferred to the St. Louis Blues in November 2019 in exchange for Robby Fabbri .
International
Jacob de la Rose was for the first time at the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament 2011 and the U18 Junior World Championship 2012 in the squad of the Swedish U18 national team and won the silver medal with them at both tournaments. In the same year he also took part in the World U-17 Hockey Challenge 2012 , where he helped Sweden achieve fourth place with five points. At the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament 2012 he won the bronze medal with Sweden.
At the U18 Junior World Championships in 2013 , de la Rose was named captain of the Swedish selection, but only reached fifth place after a quarter-final loss to the USA. At the same time he collected 29 penalty minutes, most of the tournament. At the U20 Junior World Championships in 2013 and 2014 , he won the silver medal with Sweden. While he had finished the 2013 tournament without a scorer point, de la Rose scored six points in seven games the following year.
At the U20 World Cup in 2015 , he was the captain of the Swedish junior national team and finished fourth with them, collecting 4 points in 7 games.
De la Rose made his debut for the senior national team at the 2018 World Cup and promptly won the gold medal with the team.
