Jaden Schwartz (born June 25, 1992 in Melfort , Saskatchewan ) is a Canadian ice hockey player on the position of the left winger . Since March 2012 he has been under contract with the St. Louis Blues from the National Hockey League . With the team he won the Stanley Cup in the 2019 playoffs .
Career
Schwartz began his career with the Notre Dame Hounds in the junior leagues of the Canadian province of Saskatchewan . In the 2008/09 season he played for the Hounds in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL). In 46 games he scored 76 points , after which he was named SJHL Rookie of the Year. He then moved to Tri-City Storm in the United States Hockey League (USHL). In his first and only season in the USHL, Schwartz was top scorer of the league with 83 points from 60 games and was named USHL Striker of the Year after the season, in addition he was elected to the USHL First All-Star team.
In the 2010 NHL Entry Draft , Jaden Schwartz was selected in the first round in 14th position by the St. Louis Blues . The offensive player then joined the Colorado College Tigers from the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) and was the Tigers' top scorer with 47 points from 30 games in his first season in the WCHA. For these achievements, he was elected to both the WCHA All-Rookie Team and the WCHA Third All-Star Team. In the following season he was the Tigers' most successful points collector.
On March 12, 2012 Schwartz signed a three-year entry - level contract with the St. Louis Blues. Five days later he made his debut in a game of the Blues against the Tampa Bay Lightning in the National Hockey League (NHL) and immediately scored his first NHL goal with his first shot. Overall, Schwartz came in the 2011/12 NHL season on seven missions for the Blues.
The 2012/13 season began Schwartz with St. Louis' farm team Peoria Rivermen in the American Hockey League , before he was called to the NHL squad of the Blues after the lockout ended . Schwartz established himself as a regular player in the Blues and played in 45 NHL games, scoring seven goals and 13 points.
With the Blues Schwartz won the Stanley Cup in the 2019 playoffs .
International
Jaden Schwartz represented his home country with the Canadian national team for the first time at the 2011 U20 Junior World Championship . He reached the final with his team and lost to the Russian selection 3: 5. At the U20 Junior World Championship the following year, he led his team onto the ice as team captain. The Canadians lost to the Russian team in the semi-finals, but won the bronze medal in the game for third place against the Finnish team .
Schwartz made his debut for the senior national team at the 2018 World Cup , where he finished fourth with the team.
