Samuel "Sammy" Blais (born June 17, 1996 in Montmagny , Québec ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who has been under contract with the St. Louis Blues in the National Hockey League since November 2015 and also for their farm team , the San Antonio Rampage , in the American Hockey League is used.
Career
In his youth, Samuel Blais played for the Estacades de Trois-Rivières and for the Commandeurs de Lévis , among others , before moving to the Tigres de Victoriaville in the Ligue de hockey junior majeur du Québec (LHJMQ) during the 2013/14 season , the highest ranking junior league in its home province. The Tigres had selected him in the Entry Draft of the LHJMQ in 2013 in 129th place. By the end of the season, the winger played 25 games in Victoriaville and recorded 14 points before he was considered in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft in 176th position by the St. Louis Blues . He then significantly increased his personal statistics for the 2014/15 season, reaching 82 points and becoming the second best attacker on his team (after Angelo Miceli ). As a result, he signed an entry-level contract with the Blues in November 2015 and was handed over to the Charlottetown Islanders within the LHJMQ just under a month later . In return, Alexandre Goulet moved to the Tigres. In Charlottetown, the Canadian finished the season with 19 points from 12 playoff games before moving permanently to the St. Louis Blues organization for the 2016/17 season.
There Blais was initially used with the Chicago Wolves , the farm team of the Blues from the American Hockey League (AHL). After establishing himself there as a regular scorer, he made his debut for St. Louis in the National Hockey League (NHL) at the beginning of the 2017/18 season . In the course of the year, the attacker came to 11 NHL games, but was mostly on the ice with the new AHL cooperation partner, the San Antonio Rampage . With the start of the 2018/19 season, he continues to switch regularly between the NHL and AHL, but receives more ice age in St. Louis overall. With the team he won the Stanley Cup in the 2019 playoffs .
