Troy Brouwer was selected during the NHL Entry Draft 2004 in the seventh round as a total of 214th player by the Chicago Blackhawks . The Canadian began his career as a hockey player with the Moose Jaw Warriors , for whom he played in the Western Hockey League for a total of five years from 2001 to 2006 . In his last season with the Warriors he received the Bob Clarke Trophy as the top scorer in the WHL with 102 points, including 49 goals. He was also elected to the WHL East First All-Star Team. He was then added to the roster of the Norfolk Admirals , the Chicago Blackhawks' farm team at the time , in the summer of 2006 . In his first season in professional ice hockey Brouwer scored 79 points, including 41 goals, for Norfolk in the American Hockey League and made his debut for Chicago in the National Hockey League . For the Blackhawks, however, he remained pointless in ten games.

In the 2007/08 season Brouwer played 75 times for the Rockford IceHogs , Chicago's new farm team, and scored 54 points, including 35 goals, in the AHL. On March 23, 2008 Brouwer scored his first scorer point in the NHL in a game against the St. Louis Blues when he managed an assist . In the 2009/10 season he won the Stanley Cup with Chicago . On June 24, 2011, the Blackhawks gave him in exchange for a first-round right to vote in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft to the Washington Capitals .

In July 2015 Brouwer was handed over to the St. Louis Blues along with Pheonix Copley and a third-round vote for the 2016 NHL Entry Draft . The Capitals received TJ Oshie in return . After a season in St. Louis, the attacker did not receive a new contract from the Blues, so he signed a four-year contract with the Calgary Flames as a free agent in July 2016 . However, this was already dissolved in August 2018, so that his two remaining contractual years were paid out (buy-out) . Then the Canadian was signed by the Florida Panthers for a year, but his contract was not extended afterwards. As a result, he only joined the St. Louis Blues on probation in November 2019, before he was given a permanent contract with his previous employer a little later.

International

Brouwer made his debut for the Canadian national team at the 2014 World Cup . This finished the Canadians in fifth place, to reach Brouwer prepared a goal in eight missions.
