Valentina Babor (born July 8, 1989 or 1990 in Munich ) is a German pianist .

Life

Babor comes from a Munich artist family. She received her first piano lessons at the age of five. Her mother is a ballet dancer , her father an architect . The paternal grandfather, Michael Babor, was a pianist and founder of the natural cosmetics company Babor .

Career

At the age of twelve, Valentina Babor was accepted into the Mozarteum and the Institute for the Promotion of Gifted Students. Her teacher was among others Karl-Heinz Kämmerling . In June 2012 she completed her soloist diploma with Gerhard Oppitz at the University of Music and Theater in Munich . Since 2013 she has continued her studies as a master's student with the Finnish pianist Antti Siirala .

Babor played with the Young German Philharmonic , the Central German Chamber Philharmonic , the New Frankfurt Philharmonic and the Georgian Chamber Orchestra Ingolstadt . As a chamber musician, she played with Maximilian Hornung and Valeri Sokolow as well as with the Leipzig String Quartet .

2010 Babor premiered the complete piano works from the book of the stars of Wilfried Hiller . In October 2011, together with soloists from the Munich Philharmonic , she gave the world premiere of the piano quintet Rhapsodie Macabre by Graham Waterhouse at the Liszt Festival in Munich . In 2012 she founded two chamber music ensembles, the European Chamber Ensemble Munich and the Bellartis Trio . Babor has performed at the Kissinger Sommer music festival and played at the Biennale di Venezia and the Palau de la Música Catalana .

In 2012, Babor released the album Russian Soul in collaboration with Yury Revich . In July 2015 she released her debut solo album Piano Princess , which was arranged and produced by David Garrett .

Prizes and awards

At the age of six she received a first prize at Jugend musiziert . In the following years she won four first prizes at piano competitions and two other first federal prizes at Jugend musiziert. In 1999 she was honored as the “greatest young talent of the year” at the Munich Piano Podium and in 2006 she received the Rising Stars Classical Prize . In March 2014 she was nominated for the finals of the international German Pianist Prize. In June of the same year she won first place at the International Piano Competition Ischia as part of the Note sul Mare festival on Ischia .
