Montmagny is a city ( ville ) and capital of the Canadian MRC Montmagny of the same name in the Canadian province of Québec .

The city is located about 80 km east of the provincial capital Québec on the south bank of the estuary of the Saint Lawrence River at the mouth of the Rivière du Sud . In 2006 it had a total of 11,353 inhabitants and covers an area of ​​126.07 km².

history

Montmagny was founded in 1646 by Charles Jacques Huault de Montmagny. In 1883 Montmagny received city rights.
