The Colorado College (CC) is a private educational institution at the foot of Pikes Peak in Colorado Springs , Colorado . Every year around 2,000 students enroll for the four-year course. From 2002 to 2011, Richard Celeste was president of the college. He was the former governor of the state of Ohio and US ambassador to India.

history

It was founded in 1874 by the Civil War veteran General William Jackson Palmer , who also founded today's Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad and the city of Colorado Springs , Colorado . The CC is a liberal arts college in New England tradition. In 1880 the first building, now called Cutler Hall , was occupied. The building is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places .

Sports

The university's sports teams are the Tigers . The university's ice hockey team competes in the National Collegiate Athletic Association 's US college championships .
