Harry H. Seldomridge

Harry Hunter Seldomridge (born October 1, 1864 in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania , † November 2, 1927 in Colorado Springs , Colorado ) was an American politician . Between 1913 and 1915 he represented the second constituency of the state of Colorado in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Harry Seldomridge attended public schools in Philadelphia. In February 1878 he moved to Colorado Springs, where he graduated from college there until 1885. Between 1886 and 1888 he published the Colorado Springs Gazette in his new hometown. From 1888 he worked in the grain trade. He also traded in hay. Politically, Seldomridge was a member of the Democratic Party . In 1896 he was a delegate to the Democratic National Convention in Chicago . Between 1896 and 1904 he was a member of the Colorado Senate ; In 1909 he was chairman of a conference to revise the Colorado constitution.

In 1912, Seldomridge was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington . There he replaced John Andrew Martin on March 4, 1913 . Since he was defeated by the Republican Charles B. Timberlake in the 1914 elections, Seldomridge was only able to complete one term in Congress until March 3, 1915 . After his time in Congress ended, he resumed his old business. Between 1915 and 1923 he was administrator ( receiver ) of the Mercantile National Bank of Pueblo . After that he was still a public trustee in El Paso County . Harry Seldomridge died on November 2, 1927 in Colorado Springs and was buried there.
