Raymond Peter Kogovsek (born August 19, 1941 in Pueblo , Colorado , † April 30, 2017 ) was an American politician . Between 1979 and 1985 he represented the third constituency of the state of Colorado in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Raymond Kogovsek attended the Pueblo Catholic High School until 1959 and then the Pueblo Junior College until 1962 . He then continued his education at Adams State College in Alamosa and until 1965 at the University of Denver . Between 1964 and 1973, Kogovsek was an administrative clerk in Pueblo County and from 1974 to 1978 he was assistant to a lawyer. Politically, he became a member of the Democratic Party . Between 1968 and 1974 he was a member of the Colorado House of Representatives ; until 1978 he was a member of the State Senate . Between 1966 and 1979 he was a delegate to all regional Democratic party conventions in Colorado.

In the 1978 congressional elections, he was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the third district of Colorado . There he took over the seat previously held by Frank E. Evans on January 3, 1979. After two re-elections, Kogovsek was able to exercise his mandate in Congress until January 3, 1985. In 1984 he decided not to run again. After his time in Congress, Kogovsek no longer appeared politically. He last lived in Pueblo.
