William R. Eaton, 1917

William Robb Eaton (born December 17, 1877 in Nova Scotia , Canada , † December 16, 1942 in Denver , Colorado ) was an American politician . Between 1929 and 1933 he represented the first constituency of the state of Colorado in the US House of Representatives .

Career

William Eaton and his parents came to the United States as early as 1878, where they settled in Boston ( Massachusetts ). In 1881 the family moved to Denver where he attended public schools. Later he was employed by a bank until 1901. Between 1901 and 1909 he worked in various professions. He was also a member of the Colorado National Guard between 1898 and 1904 . After studying law at the University of Denver and his admission to the bar in 1909, he began practicing his new profession in Denver.

Between 1909 and 1913 he was the assistant district attorney in Colorado's Second Judicial District. Eaton was a member of the Republican Party and belonged to the Colorado Senate between 1915 and 1918 and again between 1923 and 1926 . In 1928 he was elected to the US House of Representatives in the first district of the state. After re-election in 1930, he was able to complete two terms in Congress until March 3, 1933 . In the elections of 1932 he failed just as it did two years later to Lawrence Lewis .

After his tenure in Congress, William Eaton returned to practice as a lawyer. He died the day before his 65th birthday in Denver and was buried there. He was the nephew of Congressman Charles Aubrey Eaton (1868-1953) from New Jersey .
