Robert L. "Bob" Beauprez (born September 22, 1948 in Lafayette , Colorado ) is an American politician who was from 2003 to 2007 as the representative of the state of Colorado in the US House of Representatives . There he was a member of the Ways and Means Committee .

Life

After graduating from the University of Colorado , he first worked on his parents' dairy farm. In 1990 he and his wife took over a small local banking institution. Between 1999 and 2002 he was chairman of the Colorado Republican Party.

Beauprez was the Republican candidate for the 2006 gubernatorial election in Colorado. He stood together with Janet Rowland (as a running mate and thus a candidate for the office of lieutenant governor ) against the Democrat Bill Ritter , against whom he was defeated on November 7, 2006. His successor in Congress was Ed Perlmutter . Eight years later, in the November 4, 2014 gubernatorial election , he ran again for the highest office in the state of Colorado. However, in a tight decision he had to surrender to the Democratic incumbent John Hickenlooper . This prevailed with 49.1 percent of the vote. Beauprez received 46.2 percent of the vote. However, due to its scarcity, the result was not known until noon the following day.

Beauprez has been married to his wife Claudia since 1970, they have four children and one grandson.
