Michael Lathrop "Mike" Strang (born June 17, 1929 in Bucks County , Pennsylvania , † January 12, 2014 in Carbondale , Colorado ) was an American politician . Between 1985 and 1987 he represented the third constituency of the state of Colorado in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Michael Strang attended Princeton University until 1956 and studied at the University of Geneva in Switzerland between 1956 and 1957 . Between 1950 and 1953, during the Korean War , he was a lieutenant in the US Army . Between 1957 and 1985, Strang worked in banking and as a rancher.

Strang joined the Republican Party and was elected as its candidate for the US House of Representatives in Washington in the 1984 congressional election. There he replaced the Democrat Raymond P. Kogovsek on January 3, 1985 . Since he lost to Ben Nighthorse Campbell in the 1986 elections , Strang could only serve one term in Congress until January 3, 1987 . After his time in Congress, Strang dedicated himself to raising horses and cattle. He was also a consultant on tax issues and dealing with natural resources. He last lived in Carbondale.
