The Right Honorable Lord Pearson of Rannoch

Malcolm Everard MacLaren Pearson, Baron Pearson of Rannoch (born July 20, 1942 in Devizes , Wiltshire , United Kingdom ) is a British businessman and politician of the UK Independence Party (UKIP), which he chaired from 2009 to 2010. He is also a member of the House of Lords . Pearson is also co-founder of a pro-free trade think tank , Global Britain , which archives BBC reports on the EU and publishes the cost of Britain's EU membership in point form.

Political career

In 1990 he was promoted to Life Peer as Baron Pearson of Rannoch , of Bridge of Gaur in the District of Perth and Kinross, and is therefore a member of the House of Lords for life. For many years he was a member of the British Conservative Party ("Tories"); on January 7, 2007 he resigned.

Pearson is a longtime Eurosceptic . Together with three conservative colleagues, he called on voters in May 2004 to support the UK Independence Party (UKIP). He was then expelled from the Tories faction. At first he remained a member of the Tories and represented them as an "independent conservative". He soon threatened to become a UKIP member, which he did in January 2007. He also criticized David Cameron (Prime Minister and Tories Chairman) for what Pearson's view of the EU was too uncritical. Cameron refuses to educate people in Great Britain about the disadvantages of Britain's EU membership.

Pearson tried to get Britain out of the EU. In November 2006 he presented a draft law called the European Union Bill , which provided for a cost-benefit analysis of the UK's EU membership.

In September 2009, Pearson announced that he was running for the post of UKIP Chairman after Nigel Farage stepped down. Pearson was elected at the party convention and took office on November 27, 2009. In August 2010, nine months later, he resigned. In an internal party election, Farage was re-elected as UKIP chairman.

family

Pearson has been living in third marriage to Caroline St Vincent Rose since 1997. He was previously married to Francesca Frua de Angeli (1965–1970; one daughter) and the Hon. Mary Charteris (1977–1997; two daughters).
