William N. Vaile

William Newell Vaile (born June 22, 1876 in Kokomo , Indiana , † July 2, 1927 in Rocky Mountain National Park , Colorado ) was an American politician . Between 1919 and 1927 he represented the first constituency of the state of Colorado in the US House of Representatives .

Career

In 1881 William Vaile came to Denver , Colorado with his parents . There he attended public schools. He then studied at Harvard University until 1898 . During the Spanish-American War he was a soldier in a volunteer unit from May to October 1898. After the war, Vaile studied law at the University of Colorado and Harvard. After his admission to the bar in 1901, he began working in his new profession in Denver.

Vaile was also a member of the Colorado National Guard, with whom he was transferred to the Mexican border in 1916 during a border conflict with Mexico . Politically, he joined the Republican Party . As their candidate, he was elected to the US House of Representatives in the first district of Colorado in 1918. There he took over from Benjamin C. Hilliard on March 4, 1919 . Since he was confirmed in the following elections, he could remain in Congress until his death in July 1927 . From 1923 to 1925 he was chairman of the Ministry of Finance's Expenditure Control Committee.
