Franklin Eli Brooks (born November 19, 1860 in Sturbridge , Worcester County , Massachusetts , † February 7, 1916 in St. Augustine , Florida ) was an American politician . Between 1903 and 1907 he represented the third constituency of the state of Colorado in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Franklin Brooks attended the public schools of his home country and then Southbridge High School until 1879 . He then studied until 1883 at Brown University in Providence ( Rhode Island ). In the following years Brooks worked as a teacher before studying law at Boston University in 1887 and 1888 . After his admission to the bar in 1888, he began working in this profession in Boston .

In 1891 Brooks moved to Colorado Springs , where he also practiced as a lawyer. He became a member of the Republican Party , whose regional congresses in Colorado he attended as a delegate in 1900 and 1907; In 1907 he was chairman of the party congress. In the 1902 congressional election, Brooks was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington for the newly created third district of Colorado . After being re-elected in 1904, he was able to complete two legislative terms between March 4, 1903 and March 3, 1907. In 1906 Brooks renounced another candidacy.

After his tenure in Congress , Brooks returned to working as a lawyer in Colorado Springs. He then devoted himself more and more to land development. He became president of the Costilla Estates Development Company . He also became a member of the Colorado State Agriculture Committee and was a curator of the State Agricultural College and Brown University. Franklin Brooks died in February 1916 and was buried in Colorado Springs.
